Phoenix:Tribute to Bob Marley live in Hard Rock Cafe Hyderabad on Thursday, 3rd May 2012

PHOENIX GIG + IPAD APPLICATION LAUNCH

A mythical bird that is a fire spirit builds itself a nest of twigs that then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix arises, reborn anew to live again.

This signifies the choice of the name for the band which has members from prominent bands, current and past, reborn anew to bring life to Classic Rock and Reggae, genres favored most by the pub going crowd of Hyderabad; also staying true to the band member’s musical roots.

The Family :

Badri               A truly versatile musician who has the ability to play any instrument, finally settled on the drums, as the original drummer of Alteregoz, now as the mainstay on the skins for Phoenix. Has been Hyderabad’s best known drummer for over 20 years.

Keith               Lead guitarist for the band, also has played with known bands like Stratus, Alteregoz, and Street Lethal. He works as a live/sessions musician for the south Indian music fraternity and has performed with various music directors like Ramana Gogula and Nihal.

Ruben              a hectic lifestyle of vocals in Bangalore had him seeking quieter pastures; Hyderabad brought the urge to sing back and Phoenix was waiting to cradle him back to rebirth.

Ankita             Vocals her forte, also plays keyboard among the many other instruments. Also works as a music teacher in a school.

Lokhi              never say die attitude at 56 has seen him form the best bands Hyderabad has known. Bass guitarist for over 20 years for bands including Katalog, 40 year itch and Alteregoz, his one wish is to play bass till he is buried in his bass guitar case.

Pranati            Rhythm guitarist for the band gives the support required. She has also played with known bands like white noise.

The members of the band have a natural love, feel and strength in performing Classic Rock and Reggae with a vast song list that features the best recording artists known.

Sky Rabbit live in Hard Rock Cafe Pune on Thursday, 3rd May 2012!

About Sky Rabbit:

Six year old Sky Rabbit (formerly known as Medusa) defines their sound as electronic/alternative. A formidable quartet of Mumbai’s most gifted youth, Raxit (Vocals/Samples), Rahul (Guitar/Samples), Siddharth (Bass) and Harsh on (Drums) have stumbled upon something unique, merging electronica with indie and post-punk styles.

Sky Rabbit was one of four bands in India that was selected to be part of Soundpad, a project organized by the British Council, where they recorded two tracks with legendary producer John Leckie (Radiohead, Pink Floyd, The Verve) at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai.

In 2009 Sky Rabbit performed at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton and continued their UK tour to Cardiff, Oxford, Liverpool and London.
The new debut album, which releases on 10th Jan 2012 under the Virgin EMI record label, is a set of tightly constructed tracks that blend synthetic textures with more organic instrumentation, creating a sound that is bold, experimental and ultimately captivating & addictive.

Reviews:

Medusa (Sky Rabbit) struck me as being true and their music is contemporary and in some ways, reflects whats happening in the UK. I chose them for their attitude as well as their honesty.... they are living for their music and are honest to what they are doing.
John Leckie, British music producer for Radiohead, The Stone Roses
The last couple of years have seen the new Medusa (Sky Rabbit) slowly climb the Indian indie pecking order and firmly establish themselves as one of the most exciting mid-rung bands in the country. They've played clubs in all the major gigging centres; gigs that are usually packed by a bevy of loyal fans. The musical aesthetic they've nailed down features fluid melodies powered by a post-punk, Kid A-era Radiohead-channeling dense guitar-samples.
- Arjun S. Ravi, Editor, NH7.in
Sky Rabbit's music is one frenetic, cardiac-juddering loop. Think sub-tropical Arctic Monkeys!
-  Indrajit Hazra, Hindustan Times

A lot of Sky Rabbit’s music plays like, for lack of a better comparison, modern art… you’re free to interpret it as you feel.
- Amit Gurbaxani, Mumbai Boss

Leaving the past behind.. Sky rabbit soar into a sonic dimension of their own, making for you to revel and soak in.
- Luke Kenny

This solid debut, which defies categorisation, should be celebrated because not everything needs to fit into labels created by critics. Also, Anti-Coke Ganpati has great earworm potential.
- Lindsay Pereira, Editor, Mid-Day.com

Totally original and totally fun. Here’s a band who’s not afraid to be not understood.
-  Heena Kriplani, Gibson Guitars

Clearly one of the Indian bands to look out for in the indie electro-rock space.Great sound, crisp vocals and smart use of guitars and samples.
- Narendra Kusnur, Music Columnist

The layered musical progression is made enticing by mystical lyrics and a playfulness that gently pushes the group’s repertoire.
-   Mathures Paul, The Statesman

Zedde live in Hard Rock Cafe Mumbai on Thursday, 3rd May 2012

In mid 2008, singer 2Blue and guitar player Claver Menezes got together to form Zedde. Trevor Berchman was soon brought on board as drummer and Dee Saikia as bass player. Some headlining slots at college festivals, a few radio shows, and a dozen club gigs later, their first single ‘Mumbai’ won the prestigious ‘Anthem of the Year’ title at the world’s largest indie music awards: AVIMA 2010. The video for the song frequented all popular music channels, including VH1 and MTV India, and climbed to #1 on the Youtube India charts within 24 hours of upload. The recognition opened new doors and hence, hours on the road replaced those in the studio. But it wasn't long before newer tracks were released as singles on iTunes and Amazon, and subsequently as caller tunes on the Indian cellular network [sms ZEDDE to 54646 for details]. Shortly thereafter, Zedde was voted as the ‘Best Band’ at the ArtistAloud.com Awards 2010. This is perhaps attributable to the band’s undying passion to perform original music while carrying forward the legacy of their hard rock predecessors.
Zedde is a band best served live! Make it your own, get rocked – A to Zedde!!

Ministry of Blues live in Hard Rock Cafe Hyderabad on Thursday, April 26th!

THE BAND MEMBERS:

The MoB line-up includes
Philipe (vocals & lead guitars),
Vinoo (bass),
Rauf (vocals & keyboard) and Deepak (drums).

Although Philipe, Deepak and Vinoo have been playing together since 1993, MoB as a concept and a band, was formed in 2005. Sarat Sidhan was the original Bass player for MoB. He moved out of Bangalore & MoB for professional reasons a year later.

The first difficult task was coming up with a name that suitably described the blues-rock music played by the band. After experimenting with a series of names the band finally settled on “Ministry of Blues” coined by Deepak or DK for short, which somehow seemed to sum up the overall feel of the band.
MOB performed their first gig Bangalore to all of ten people...but then The Police have actually played a gig where only three people showed up!

The subsequent performances showed a rapid recovery with turnouts ranging from crowded to over crowded. The success of MoB’s performances, marked by raw energy, quickly generated great interest in the band .

MOB's repertoire is a mix of classics like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Robben Ford, John Mayall, Joe Cocker, Deep Purple, Gary Moore and Eric Clapton among others. The band is known for their unique rock renditions of these classic tracks, making their music appealing to lovers of rock, rhythm and blues.

'One Nite Stand' live in Hard Rock Cafe Hyderabad on Thursday, April 19th!

One Nite Stand is a Bangalore-based band, comprising Behram (Vocals/Bass Guitar), Hemanth (Guitars), Neville (Piano) and Abhilash (Drums). A journey that began back at the end of 2009, but is nowhere near coming to an end, One Nite Stand are growing in stature with each passing day. Known for their lively and energetic performances, this is a band that is now recognized as one of Bangalore’s most touted young bands.

Depending on the venue and requirements, their shows cover a variety of genres ranging from Soft Rock to Rock n’ Roll, throwing in some Reggae mixed with a little Contemporary and some Retro, a touch of Blues, a shout of Pop and even a bit of some thumping Disco! The crowd and fan following that they have slowly but steadily built up over the years is also widely varied, with people being anything between 16 and 70 years, and the after-effect of most shows is usually a number of encores, resulting in a One Night Stand that's totally worth it.

Known to bring an original twist into each track, the band never fails to surprise an audience and ensures that they stay hooked right through the show!

After having a good amount of experience and a good number of shows under their belt, the guys from Bangalore are always looking to push for more! One Nite Stand plays regularly at clubs around Bangalore like Hard Rock Café, Fireflies, Kyra Theatre, Opus, Opus in The Creek, Herbs and Spice, Love Shack, UB City, Bacchus, F&B, Take 5, Paparazzi, Pebbles, Gayatri Vihar, Palace Grounds, etc. and also in cities across India.

Besides the club shows around the country, the band is always looking to perform at parties, events, pre / post wedding parties, etc and are slowly building up a good reputation for this as well. Companies such the UB Group, Kingfisher, Black Dog, Red Bull, Jameson’s Whiskey, Absolut Vodka and Pearls to name a few.

Their first major gigs include sharing the stage with Australian Cricket Superstar, Brett Lee, The White Shoe Theory and Lucky Ali. Along with these, the band constantly performs at corporate and wedding parties as well as being chosen to play at the prelude to The Great Indian Octoberfest , an event where only the leading artists from around the country like Neha Bhasin, Shaan, DJ Aqeel & DJ Pearl to name a few, as well as some International acts like Poets of the Fall, Lacuna Coil & Bedouin Soundclash are chosen to play each year!

One Nite Stand recently headlined 2 major music festivals in India including the United By Music V10, which included  sharing the stage with the world famous Chicane(UK), known for their collaborations with Sir Tom Jones and Bryan Adams and the Pin Drop Music Festival, which was held at UB City and included Dj Ma Faiza and Playboy Supermodel Virag Voksan aka DJ Flower.  The band played at the Premier of Shah Rukh Khan’s movie Ra.One and at the Launch of the Sandalwood (Kannada) Film Industry’s Moonlight Theatre at Bangalore’s Palace Grounds .

Popular for open-air performances, the band has been the preferred choice for the International Marathons in the city, recently headlining the Bangalore International Midnight Marathon Festival, which had an attendance of over 10,000 people and also performing for the TCS WORLD 10Km Marathon at the Kanteerava Stadium, where even the Chief Minister shook a leg with the band.

One Nite Stand has become the popular choice to headline college festivals, particularly those which have a strong female attendance. The band recently headlined the Mount Carmel Girls’ College Festival – Cul Ah 2012, which was attended by thousands of screaming female fans - A definite sign of the band’s growing popularity with female audiences across the country.

Despite being primarily a cover band, One Nite Stand has become the first Indian band to have caught the attention of a leading record label from the United States and are now looking to take things a step further. The band is now in the process of recording their debut album, which will include some songs written and composed by the band itself. The aim is to get an even better response for this album and hopefully one day in the near future, push on to the International level. The band will be on their first International Tour comprising 8 overseas gigs within a span of just 12 days in September 2012.

One Nite Stand is driven with passion, energy, ambition and above all, a love for music and performing in front of thousands of people! After being recently featured in Newspapers such as Times of India, Hyderabad Times, Bangalore Times, DNA, Deccan Chronicle and Indian Express, the band is confident that more opportunities and doors will open for them in the near future on the national and international stage and are looking forward to grabbing these opportunities with both hands and pushing ahead!

Soul'd Out live in Hard Rock Cafe New Delhi on Thursday, 26th April!

Soul'd Out was formed in the summer of 2011. However, the idea for the band had been floating around in some of the members' heads for quite a while. 3 of it's members - Bhaanu, Abhay and Abhijit - had been jamming occasionally before that, being students of the same college, so the band had no problem starting things off with a bang!

Each member of the band has a very special relationship with music. Their love for the art is quite extraordinary.

With influences ranging over different genres of music, Soul'd Out quite naturally has a very interesting sound, and the members aren't really concerned about how that sound can be defined/categorised. All that matters to them is that they have fun playing, which eventually spreads contagiously into the crowd! Whether you're in the mood to bust a move, or just chill out with some friends over a few beers while listening to some really good music, this band can certainly leave you satisfied!

Short Presentation:-

When their love for the art, the honest hours they've put into getting better at it, their love for writing and jamming and their stage act come together, what comes across while they play is something quite extraordinary.

Ranbir, the Master Chef & Rock Star of Hard Rock Café!

You knew Ranbir Kapoor as an actor, now know him better in a new avatar as the Rockstar of Hard Rock Café. His foodie genes had taken him to the Café some months back and with a sporting spirit he took away the Foodie show as well as the food off from foodie-cum-host of the show, Kunal Vijaykar. Find out if he was a better foodie than the Rockstar…Before he could be pampered to a specially prepared scrumptiously laid out platter by the HRC chef, Ranbir adorned the chef’s hat and drummed his way to the cooking table. It was displayed with an interesting list of ingredients – eggs, milk, chicken bits, bacon, cheese, mushroom, macaroni, broccoli, salt, and super hot green chilies(kunal’s favourite). And, with an HRC pin stapled on his waist coat he made some mean moves with his hand and showed off his culinary expertise, and his love for eggs, which according to him are hard to crack. In collaboration with Kunal, Ranbir prepared a winning RK-Kunal scrambled egg dish, which still has to be listed on the menu card of Hard Rock Cafe.
After an affair with the eggs, the duo took a detour to their designated seat at the café and indulged their taste buds to some gourmet delights - Onion Wings, Potatoes Skin with Bacon, Chicken Wings, Tupelo Chicken named after Elvis Presley and two large HRC burgers. And, amidst morns of pleasurable sighs of hmm hmmm…and more hmmmm…Ranbir got nostalgic about the Kapoor’s lineage and their fetish with food, especially Pehawari cuisine and macaroni cheese. He bit into his juicy burger and spoke about his passion for Chinese cuisine, especially the Szechuan and the Cantonese cuisines, and confessed that even thou not a big veggy he loved the Bendi, Bartha and Zucchini.
The romance with the food was interrupted mid-way with a huge goblet presentation of the Brownie Sundae, a Hard Rock Café special, which was topped deliciously with a red cherry…(some more yummy sighs from Ranbir and Kunal were expressed.)
So, which avatar did you like the most? Is it that of a chef or as a Rockstar? Anyways, one thing is for sure and that is Ranbir is passionate about his food and loves to eat like a Rockstar.
