The Feast Day: Saint Patrick's Day

Celebrate Life, the Saint Patrick's way - it is an Irish festival, celebrated on the 17^th of March, the Christian season of Lent.

In the days gone by, the day started off with a church service and the devotees dressed up in the best of green attire, especially the shamrocks, which is a three-leaved plant that explained the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish. The wearing and display of shamrocks and shamrock-inspired designs has now become a ubiquitous feature. The day was filled with high spirits and people enjoyed and lived it up - dancing, drinking and feasting on the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage. In the 21^st century, the day is still celebrated in the same way with much more gusto and exuberance, with people splurging on the best in cuisines and drinks, and simply having a good time.

World celebrates Saint Patrick’s Day:

- In the United Kingdom, a two mile route parade is taken through the city centre and a two week Irish festival is organized.

- In Florence, Italy, the city hosts 'Festa Irlandese' - ten days of live music, food and drink.

- In Oslo, Norway the Irish community celebrates the day with a lively parade through the city.

- Germans organize a parade in the city along with an open air party with live music and dance performances.

- In Denmark, charity races are organized for the underprivileged children.

- In Russia, the day is observed with a parade that includes floats with a range of international and Russian participants.

- In South Korea a small parade is taken out and includes local expat sports teams, the Irish Community, and several Korean marching bands.

- In the United States of America, the day is celebrated by wearing green clothing and relishing on Corned beef and cabbage, and the quintessential alcohol.

World celebrates St Patrick’s Day with an Irish song, which enchants the mood with unadulterated fun, where LIFE is a SONG and DANCE.

BIO:
Erstwhile P‘n’M Inc.;  Chokfite(pronounced as ‘chalk-fight’) is a Delhi based band and has been together for 3 years now. The band was formed in 2009 by Ankit Murarka, Sahil Gupta, Kanishk Mehta and Anshul Vashist. It featured Kanishk on vocals, and Ankit on vocals as well as guitars with Sahil, while Deepak Garg was on drums and Anshul on bass and the keyboard.
Winters of 2009 brought about some changes in the lineup with Deepak leaving the band in search of musical enlightenment and the addition of Abhay sharma on Drums. Around about this period in time Kanishk took the reins of lead guitarist and hence shared the same with Ankit. Chokfite, then, proceeded to record a single with Saffire Studios (their original composition ‘someone better than me’), which is now available on its reverbnation and facebook page along with other demo records.
October 2010 brought about another paradigm shift in the band’s existence. Abhay Sharma left the band and Deepak rejoined, hence becoming an integral part on the lineup that stands today; Ankit on vocals and guitars, Sahil on guitars, Kanishk on vocals and guitars, Anshul on synth and bass and Deepak on drums.
In December 2010, Chokfite played a 2 hour set at Blues Cafe in Connaught Place, New Delhi. Most recently, the band performed at Café Oz, Khan Market.
Chokfite’s music has been debated upon many a time which is due to the fact it does not conform to any genre in particular and is arguably the pioneer of ‘chalk rock’. Being a five piece band with each member from a different background, naturally the influences of the band are quite a few varying from Alternative to progressive rock and even psychedelic rock, Chokfite's music is characterized by ‘let go’ vocals and fills, punk/grunge and rock& roll influenced rhythm guitars with Blues influenced lead guitar, haunting synth effects and drum beats that ‘make a statement’, all complemented by a combination of mature, poetic & contradictory ‘i-don’t-wanna-grow-up’ song writing. The band also tries to bring in a flavor of Psychedelic/Experimental Rock with prolonged keyboard, guitar and drum solos which forms as essential part of their music.
Chokfite is a socially active band and through our music we to express what everyone feels and learns with those feelings in every sphere of an exceedingly complicated life. Experience rises over on paper biased perceptions. In a world of groggy imperfection It isn’t in our identity but through our actions we are defined. That is what Chokfite represents and tries to bring to life in the form of music.

CRYSIS 

Crysis was formed in early 2010. The Band sparked from the passion for music of Joy & Debojyoti for whom the band was something of a dream. Joined in by Raj to play the drums, we started to jam on random numbers of Nirvana, Blink 182, Metallica, Black Sabbath, 3 Doors Down. Later he (Raj) took up bass duties & Ashmit joined in on the drums & what was just a dream started turning into reality. Still jamming on random tracks in joy's living room and working on original stuff, the band got its direction into a particular sound with alternative shades, drawing inspiration from the biggest gig of em'all- “L.I.F.E”. Later, Raj left (Kicked out rather) for some unprecedented reasons and Sunny joined the lineup as our new bassist.

History: "Eclipse Alchemy.." is a metal band from trivandrum. The band was formed in February 2010.. The bands main compositions are-"The chosen one "and "The shattered”. The band has done over 40 performances now in Kerala  ,Tamilnadu, Karnataka...The band is releasing its debut album on may 2012.

A Rock Band from an MNC IT firm... a set of people working in diff. domains.. from managing Servers -to- programming -to- Project Management, we are spread across the campus..
Diff. work shifts, diff. projects, diff. KRA's, diff. responsibilities & diff. specialties... Life isn't easy for any of us... but we work hard to ensure we can "JAM" harder as well... when together, we are not individually different... We become one.. from heart to soul...

Dilip: Drummer the "Great"... The most seasoned member of the band.. fresh out of college with a fresh perspective and open mind.. Always "cool" & "OK" with everything... He has been playing in Bangalore from past few years, being associated with other bands as well and have performed at various places including Kyra & Palace grounds..
Gnanraj: Our Bassist.. again a loyalty expert giving production support.. working in shifts, one can really learn "Work-life balance" from him.. Always ready to learn and the first one to arrive for any jamming session.. Speaks very less and yes.. he is indeed a "tall" figure among us..
Nishant: The Management grad. in Finance is looking after the marketing & PR of the Band. He brings with him not just a powerful & energetic voice but also the maneuverability with his ability to play guitar & keyboard as well.. A writer, composer and so called "Philosopher" who says "Buffer Zone" is his baby as well as his dream, and wants both of them to grow BIG... His dream is to bring his city on the Rock Map of India..
Tirthankar: The senior-most person and undoubtedly the backbone of the band.. with more than 8 yrs of playing experience, brings with him the rich musical heritage of Kolkata.. An expert in managing Networks & Servers by profession has equal dexterity on his guitar... The thinker, the analyst & the visionary.. His suggestions are very instrumental as is his understanding of music..

SOLDER

“People keep calling you out in the world; don’t hide in the shadows deep inside…”

Every once in a while, for every six metal-heads, four indie-rockers, three punk-rockers and eight odd nu-age maniacs will come a band that will be fired by the traditions of classic rock and feel the burning need to restore the screaming guitar licks and reverb laden drum sound of the 60s and 70s to their former glory. Solder from Bangalore is decidedly this kind of band. Bringing in layers of vocal harmony over textured guitars gives them their signature sound. While being rooted in classic rock traditions every once in a while they do foray into what they call ‘modern indie’ sounds as well. And that’s what makes their sound a mélange of the old and new.

The Music

The Bangalore music scene has been dominated for the past few years by thrash and death metal bands. Amidst this scene of bludgeoning guitar riffs and blast beats, Solder‘s music stands out like a breath of fresh air. It is easy going and friendly on ears, nevertheless it has a progressive edge. Take a hint of groovy blues, add a pinch of funk and glam rock, sprinkle some alternative pop and then blend it in with good old classic rock. The result is Solder.

The Band

Siddarth Abraham, Sylvester Pradeep, Akhilesh Kumar, Joel Rozario and Samson Phillip got together by forces which they now like to call destiny or whatever you term it these days, and started making music almost randomly, and Bangalore saw a band that played their music “Live and Loud” and contributing their two bits to the independent music movement on India.

With a line-up at equilibrium and a defined sound, the gigs and the competitions (runners up Strawberry Fields 2009, Bangalore Winners of Yamaha Asian Beats 2010, Bangalore Winners of Channel V Launchpad 2011, Runners up of Chennai Live Band Hunt) kept coming and with it Solder developed a reputation of being electric, energetic and fun on stage. The Solder show is like one big party, completely informal, with the feel good vibe, bringing the house down with funk, soul, rock and twenty-something energy. And with this passion for music and their ability to connect with their audiences, Solder started winning over fans at every gig they’ve played, and made audiences feel the vibe that they call “Live and Loud”!!

Often described as a unit of five drifters glued together by music, Solder was born with the intention of writing feel good songs, and belting them out “Live and Loud”.

Now with all the varied influences bouncing off each other, Solder slowly created a sound space underlined by groove and layered with vocal melodies and harmonies, accompanied by screaming guitar licks and reverb laden drum sounds.

The Name

One evening, while jamming, a guitar cable was giving some trouble and the band realised that the cable had come apart. They got together and decided to repair it themselves and the cable was soldered together and ‘Solder’ was born. Each band member brings with him his own distinctive playing style and musical influence. While, normally, this can be a cause for friction and confusion, for Solder, it is the converse. They share a bond that makes them an incredibly tight unit which in turn reflects in their music.

The Live Experience

Watching Solder live is an experience by itself and has to be seen and heard to be believed. On stage, Solder is electric, energetic and fun. Their passion for music comes through and their ability to connect with their audience is effortless and natural. .They live their motto of 'Live and Loud'.

With their debut album in the pipeline, SOLDER will try and re-create the “Live and Loud” vibe on record, and when it does release we can all play it on loop and smile, and make the world a happy place.

The Personnel

Siddarth Abraham: Vocals and Guitar

Siddarth a.k.a Puttu is the voice of Solder. A charismatic frontman whose personality and smile makes women go weak in their knees. He was brought up on a diet of Jim Reeves, Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Deep Purple. He draws his influence from the king himself. He credits his brother for pushing him forward into the music scene in Bangalore. When he is not jamming with the band, Siddarth is a Martial Arts Trainer. His ambition is to take Solder on to the next level and get recognition nationally and internationally as one of the best live acts around.

Akhilesh Kumar: Rhythm Guitar and Backing Vocals

Akhilesh a.k.a Apple is the youngest member of the band. He is described by his fellow band members as “a ball of energy on the stage and off it”. Akhilesh handles backing vocals and on occasion lead vocals. Joe Satriani, Santana, Bruce Lee Mani and are his favourite guitarists and he loves the music of Skid Row, Poison, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. When he is not strumming his guitar or attending band practise sessions, Akhilesh is busy conducting martial arts classes. His ultimate dream is to live a life making music with Solder.

Sylvester Pradeep: Lead Guitar and Backin Vocals

Sylvester a.k.a Sylva/Sly is the lead guitarist for Solder and backing vocalist and boy can he play a mean guitar. A versatile guitarist who adapts to any situation and offers only his best! He may seem in the shadows but make no mistake he will make sure that you can hear him loud and clear. His musical influences vary from our very own Indian carnatic to western classical to every single kind of genre you can think off. When he’s not seducing you with his guitar licks,

he’s busy teaching people how to play the guitar. His goal to make Solder sound like no other and gain international acclaim and basically making people ‘Feel Good’

Samson Philip: Bass Guitar

Philip a.k.a Doris is the bass guitarist for Solder. He has a charming smile and an easy going manner that belies his talent. Philip credits Billy Sheehan and Victor Wooten as his main influences while learning to play the bass guitar. He loves the music of Metallica, Credence Clearwater Revival and Queen and credits them for making him the musician that he is today. Philip is a trained audio engineer and composes and produces music for various projects. Being the last member to join Solder, he is at the receiving end of most of the pranks perpetrated by the rest of the band members. His ambition is to go on tour with Solder and like Siddarth, wants to get recognition nationally and internationally as one of the best live acts around.

Joel Michael Rozario: Drums and Percussion and Backing Vocals

Joel a.k.a Joe is the drummer and the pivot around which the band revolves. He is the genial ever smiling teddy bear of the band. Joel credits Carter Beauford, John Bonham, Dave Weckl and Art Blakey as his main influences and he loves the music of Dave Matthews Band, Led Zeppelin, and Credence Clearwater Revival. When not playing the drums, Joel works as an analyst with IT Company. His ambition is to make music with Solder that will take them places and give them the ability to reach out to a global audience.

Propeller Head's music leaks out like smoke from a house
on fire. This band provides a soundtrack to the biggest
hard rock resurgence since the 80s. Propeller Head has
made a name for itself by tapping the primal essence and
drama of the music. Persevering beyond the mere three chord progression, this band rips through hard rock tunes from the 80s to their latest originals. The band jump started in 2011 and has won many band competitions and played at some of the best venues in Mumbai. The band is fronted by Rushabh, who met the
bassist yash through an online post by the latter for a frontman. After many unsuccessful stints with different bands, they were contacted by guitarist shreyash and that’s how propeller head took off. Sahil agreed to handle the percussions and the rest is history.

EBONIX
Ebonix, formed in the august of 2011, doesn’t really believe in representing a particular genre. Majorly it can be described as a progressive band, but more likely to be identified as a mashup of pleasant melodies and hard thumping beats. Deep vocals backed with refreshing tunes, Ebonix strives to provide your musical ears with clean sound full of young vibe. Formed officially on 14th March 2008,the band has performed at many reputed universities and venues in India like Channel[V] Launchpad, Indian Institute of Technology (Delhi , Roorkee , Guwahati and Kharagpur). The band started in Jalandhar and since then it never looked back . In its journey of two magnificent years the band has established itself well in the Jalandhar, Delhi and Chandigarh circuits . 
Achievements Till Date :

Performed at Channel[V] Launchpad 2012 zonal finals at Chandigarh.

• Entered the top 5 bands in IIT Roorkee just 7 months after the formation.
• Were ranked 1st allover north zone in 2008- Gyan Manthan in Lovely Professional University with the drummer being adjudged the best drummer allover north zone.
• In 2006 the drummer was chosen amongst the top 20 Drummers in India in competition with Siva Mani( The no. 1 Drummer in India).
• The vocalist was awarded the 3rd best vocalist allover India in 2008 (Punjab University –Chandigarh).
• The guitarist has done more than 15 rock concerts in Nepal and also played live on television in Nepal.
• The band has also performed at many corporate shows 
• Awarded as 3rd best fusion in IIT-Delhi 2009.
• Covered by one of North India's leading dailies Dainik Bhaskar.
• Officially Tied-up with MY FM 94.3(2009-2010).

The members of the band shared a common belief in "innovate what's in hand & invent what's not", so we kept digging & persevering until we could create something absolutely original and convincing enough. We brought forth our own influences, societal as well as musical, & the diversity of these influences is the reason behind the varied sound of the band. We believe in conveying every experience i...n a new, exclusive get up, rather than being crippled by sound specifications, "when music is the only place where you can break all chains & breach all walls, then so be it & well, when every experience is different, then so should be its expression."

LIFE 

LIFE is a new age rock band with a contemporary taste in music . The band focuses on Hindi Rock Music combined with an Alternative Rock, dance and Grunge Metal touch.

 We started the band just 5 days prior to the fest Mood Indigo Dec  2010, which is held at IIT Mumbai every year. The band revolves around Vikalp's and Prashants's combination of grunge and clean vocals which  provide a powerful combination of expressions and feelings.  Mukendra and Karan  handle the Rythm section over which Chaitanya, Vikalp and Prashant play a combination of riffs and solos. Anupam handles the Bass section. The band aims to change the Rock scene of India. By its Original Compositions it wants to change the way a Hindi Rock Band is looked upon.

'Dark Project- Tribute to Guns N' Roses' performing at Hard Rock Cafe Hyderabad on Thursday, February 23rd!

Dark Project is an alternative English band playing music together since 2005. The band has been mainly operative in Kolkata till 2009 until they decided to shift the base to Bangalore. Dark Project is 2 albums old now which are titled as: Chaos Sessions(2007) and Liberty & Entropy(2009). 

Here's a brief look at the track history of the band:

1. Right now playing at no 1 on Reverbnation Alternative Rock chart in Bangalore.

2. They were one of highest played Indian bands on CBS’ last.fm in the year 2009-10.

3. Dark Project has been interviewed by The Hindustan Times (Kolkata), Radio Canada International, IndianRockMp3 to name a few.

4. Their Album Liberty & Entropy has been reviewed by Rock Street Journal (RSJ), Rolling Stone Magazine, IndiaRockMp3, Indiescision to name a few.

5. Their song “Streak of Coldness” has been aired in various FM channels in India including the Power FM in Kolkata, FM Rainbow - Delhi and Radio Olala in Shillong.

6. The band featured in the 'Pub Rock Fest' conducted by RSJ in September 2009.

7. The band has played at Opus, Herbs & Spice in Bangalore so far and numerous venues in Kolkata.
