Five 8 & Jester Live at Hard Rock Cafe New Delhi on Thursday, 3rd February!

Photobucket

Five8 was created in the summer of 2005 in New Delhi. Beginning as a college band at Delhi University, Five8 performed extensively within the Indian college circuit, playing many college shows and competitions. With this impetus, the members of the band Adhir, Aveleon, Robin, Shiv and Steve decided to take the band forward professionally in 2008, consciously writing and performing their own music.

With influences ranging from glam rock to soul, progressive music to pop, Five8’s work resonates through a constantly evolving city life, running parallel and colliding with concrete construction, scorching temperatures, traffic jams, insatiable appetites, and just some plain wishful thinking.

Five8’s music tells their story from within, and by stepping outside of the emerging Indian independent music milieu, using this apparent challenge to create Five8’s unique sound. The band released its first self-titled EP in September 2010 featuring six original tracks, original band artwork and a range of merchandise. In the future, the band hopes to continue writing and performing in order to allow their music to lead them further. As a part of the dynamic ‘Indian Indie’, Five8 believes that this is the time in India to let your music speak. “Life gives you one shot, there are no retakes” (Believe, Five8, 2009).

Jester: Food and Funnies.

Sharing space with a Indian classical choir and a rather quirky bunch of musicians in Musoc,Kirori Mal College, Jester is a funk band open to a lot of experimentation. Jester finds its inspiration in everyday ironies and general tomfoolery.

The vocalist, Dhruv- Nawab of the band, is an air bag with a lunatic glint in his eyes. He's quite good when it comes to crazy harmonies and he always wants to change everyone’s parts. He’s survived the band in spite of the on-off button he carries hidden somewhere within his 'nawab' intellect. Our lead guitarist, Pahwa (no one knows his first name) wants to shred a lot, though we really don’t let him. He does manage to play the coolest chords with some quirky melodies some funky phrasing yes a little shred thrown in. For Shiv, struggling to keep his keyboard from perishing because of voltage fluctuations, its all about the groove and his unique one legged dance. Akshay, on bass, is the color quotient of the otherwise sober band. He owns a fluorescent green bass,an orange sweater and yellow eyes. Shantanu ‘shanty’ Sudarshan with his South Indian awesomeness keeps it trendy with Swirlies, high fives, fist bumps, soccer calves and crazy hits.

Retro Legendary Act (RLA) Live at Hard Rock Cafe Mumbai on Tuesday, 8th February!

Photobucket

"Music is a higher revelation than philosophy."

A group of like minded musicians came together and thought that they could share their talents to create a musical outfit. No sooner did the notes hit right, there was an events horizon with a sparkling radiance of warmth and a foreseeable longstanding camaraderie.

A few rehearsals were enough to baptize this as, Retro Legendary Act, only to mean that the music that emanates from the souls of these musicians sound rich and logical to one and all.

Endeavoring to typecast this band is futile as there has been an extensive and exhaustive thought put into this taking into consideration the likes and dislikes of the English music loving crowd and songs that would be liked and enjoyed by music lovers from all walks of life.

Saying this, the band is now on the edge of the stage, all ready to walk on, and exhale its energy in a prismatic radiance, but only after the chemistry bonded well after 3 months of strenuous rehearsals.

Blues Conscience live at Hard Rock Cafe Hyderabad on Thursday, 10th February

Photobucket

Blues Conscience was started in 2008, for the sole purpose to promote the blues in today’s rock and metal influenced live music culture. As a 3 piece outfit, our roots go deep into some of the greats that have played the blues, such as B.B.King, Buddy Guy, Jimi Hendrix, Muddy waters and Howlin’ Wolf to name a few.

We provide a fully suited up act, retaining every essence of the blues, and doing renditions of our own. Often called a “feel good band that’s constantly engaging the audience with the right energy”.

Tribute to Dire Straits by Heaven's Down at Hard Rock Cafe New Delhi on Thursday, 10th February!

Photobucket

In the chaotic world of rock 'n' roll, in which the lifespan of most bands can be measured in terms of a few years or a few months, HEAVENS DOWN (formerly ASHTORETH) have emerged as one of INDIAN rock's most enduring and respected bands, delivering hard-hitting, personally-charged music for more than a decade.

HEAVENS DOWN is about the struggles that have taught them how to gain their independence and live the Rock n Roll of life on their own terms.

The Bands remarkable resilience is largely a reflection of the fierce determination and never-say-die tenacity thats driven MANJIT JOSEPH, guitar extraordinaire and founding member of HEAVENS DOWN for much of his life.

In the early 1990s, the band confronted that era's confused, grunge orientated restlessness, building an impressive body of edgy, uncompromising rock 'n' roll that retains its emotional resonance more than 10 years after the band's formation. Such standards as "Just Too Much" "Falling Down" "Risky Rascal Rock n Roll Star" stand amongst Indian Rock's most indelible anthems.

HEAVENS DOWN is an uncharacteristically tight band. Their aggressive image co-exists with a thoughtful lyrical stance that challenges mainstream values and counterculture platitudes alike.

The Beat Route Live at Hard Rock Cafe Mumbai on Thursday, 10th February!

Photobucket

First things first, its not the vegetable. After pondering over some of the most idiosyncratic names ever known to mankind, the band settled on one of them anyway. That said, The Beat Route is a result of some clever thinking and quirky wordplay. The plan was never to be too profound with the name, but these things happen. Formed in November 2010, The Beat Route is a five member band based in Mumbai with all its members spread across the gigantic city.

The band is the brainchild of Keyboard player Eeshan Tripathi and Drummer Gopal Dutta. Having taken a break from their regional rock band Arth, the extremely talented but restless duo decided to go ‘Firangi’. The route to Beat Route wasn’t to be easy.

The Indian summer made them sweat over finding capable band members to play along with. Two guitar players, a bass guitarist and a few wasted jam sessions later; they finally found the permanent members to be. Guitarist Vignesh Iyer, Bass player Vibhas Patil and Vocalist Gregory Sarma. Having now settled upon a permanent line up, they embark upon the route that lay ahead.
