Projekt S live at Hard Rock Cafe Mumbai on Thursday, 2nd December
Suhail , a devoted Sarangi player has been hailed as a child prodigy in the world of music. Suhail comes from a rich musical background and descends from the Moradabad-Rampur and Senia Gharana of MIYAAN TANSEN. He is the grandson of renowned Sarangi legend Padmabhushan and Padmashree awardee USTAD SABRI KHAN and the nephew of the young Sarangi genius Shri KAMAL SABRI. Suhail is the eighth generation Sarangi player carrying on with this rich family tradition.Inspired by the sound of Sarangi, Suhail started learning at the young age of four from his Uncle and Grandfather, and he gave his first live performance at the age of seven. He is also the youngest Sarangi player to have ever performed on stage. He has performed in a number of well-known concerts in India regularly sharing the stage with his uncle and grandfather.
Apart from pure Indian classical music Suhail is also involved in composing many jingles and background scores for documentaries. He has composed the background score for the famous children's programme on DD Bharti called The Small World. He has just released an electronic lounge album with TATVA KUNDALINI ( produced by Nupur Audio). Suhail is an open minded musician and appreciates other kinds of music also and has proved this through the use of electronic accessories in the traditional Sarangi. But apart from all this exclusive commercial work, he also maintains his roots, which is pure Indian classical music.
He has been extensively touring India and beyond for various festivals and concerts. He has visited places like France, England, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Nepal, Pakistan etc. for performances. In fact Suhail was the youngest musician to represent India at the world famous MILAP Festival held at Manchester, UK, 2003. Suhail has worked with great personalities like Ustad Amjad Ali Khan (Sarod Maestro), Shubha Mudgal, Talvin Singh- the famous new age tabla player of UK,Airto Moriera ,the world famous percussionist, and in a festival in England, he got the chance to play with the great guitar player Steve Vai. Suhail has also has had the privilege of accompanying the world renowned Vocalist Smt. Girja Devi.

"Music is a higher revelation than philosophy."A group of like minded musicians came together and thought that they could share their talents to create a musical outfit. No sooner did the notes hit right, there was an events horizon with a sparkling radiance of warmth and a foreseeable longstanding camaraderie.
A few rehearsals were enough to baptize this as, Retro Legendary Act, only to mean that the music that emanates from the souls of these musicians sound rich and logical to one and all.
Endeavoring to typecast this band is futile as there has been an extensive and exhaustive thought put into this taking into consideration the likes and dislikes of the English music loving crowd and songs that would be liked and enjoyed by music lovers from all walks of life.
Saying this, the band is now on the edge of the stage, all ready to walk on, and exhale its energy in a prismatic radiance, but only after the chemistry bonded well after 3 months of strenuous rehearsals.

Shafqat Amanat Ali – the Rockstar Ustad (A term coined by Bollywood music director Salim Merchant) is the biggest singing sensation to hit the subcontinent in recent times. He is the son of the legendary Pakistani singer Ustad Amanat Ali Khan, making him a part of the 9 generation old Patiala Gharana.He has been a student of the classical music tradition of India and Pakistan since age four. He was inspired towards music by his father, his uncle Ustad Fateh Ali Khan sahib as well as Roshanara Begum, to name a few. He was role of honour from the Music Society of Government College, Lahore and has been honoured by the President's Pride of Performance in Pakistan on 14th August, 2007, making him the 6th in line from his family to receive this honour.
Shafqat’s voice represents a unique blend of classical gayaki and contemporary panache. The soul in his powerful voice has the rare ability, which can carry the listener to the peaks of ecstasy and the depths of pain within moments. This very versatility makes him a vocalist par excellence. As the soulful voice traverses a gamut of emotions, the sheer perfection of his gayaki leaves the listener spellbound.

The Galeej Gurus are a band that believes in exploring music and also to have as much fun as possible doing it. They have been on the circuit since 2000 & played over 500 gigs within & outside the country. The Galeej Gurus, in 2008 performed at the Dubai Desert Rock Festival (Asia’s Largest Music Festival) alongside Velvet Revolver, Muse, Korn, Machinehead, Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying & Slapshock. In India, the Galeej Gurus have also opened for legendary rockers such as MR. BIG & Deep Purple. In March 2010, the Rolling Stone magazine featured the Galeej Gurus as one of ‘India’s Hottest Bands’.The band believes that their music genre can’t be classified; however critics have classified the band’s music as Indie, along with a host of other genres such as Alternative, Funk, and Blues-Rock. In the music of The Galeej Gurus, one can see such diverse influences as Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eric Clapton, Steve Vai and Deep Purple.

Swarathma is a Bangalore (India) based contemporary folk-fusion band that represents the sound of today’s India: rooted in tradition, yet with sights set firmly on the world. The sound is Indian folk and Classical with Reggae, Blues and Jazz in a blend that is one-of-a-kind.Swarathma released 2 albums on EMI in 2009, and have worked with the legendary John Leckie (Raidohead, Muse). They swept the Jack Daniels Indian Rock Awards 2009 winning Band, Song and Album of the Year.
The band is known for a visually electric interactive stage act featuring fauxfolk- horses and a Nehru Topis. This act won over audiences at top festivals such as Lovebox and Larmer Tree Festivals in London and Awtar Festival in Morocco. They have traveled to Hong Kong and Singapore as well.
Swarathma first music video 'Pyaasi' was launched in May 2010. Funded by the Gibson Foundation and the Global Water Challenge, it speaks of the fragility of water told through a story of contrasts. It features the voice of legendary Indian Classical singer Shubha Mudgal who collaborated with Swarathma on the track. Academy Award nominated filmmaker Shekhar Kapur was creative consultant to the video that was shot in the wind-swept arid desert land of Rajasthan.

Dec 23rd 2010 was a truly memorable day for all the staff at Hard Rock Cafe New Delhi as we hosted a fun filled Christmas lunch for 115 children as part of our Christmas initiative with Music Basti. You could not wipe the smiles off our faces all day, as the kids danced, decorated christmas cookies, sang carols with their favourite musicians, met Santa and got their presents - and we cannot wait till next year! Thanks to all patrons for contributing to the Toy Drive and making this day special.

Formed in 2002, Barefaced Liar is an amalgamation of the distinct and eclectic musical taste of its members, Akshay Chowdhry (Vocals, Guitars), Sumant Balakrishnan (Guitars, Vocals) and Dushyant Purohit (Bass) .The band is heavily influenced by all time classic sounds of bands and artists such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, SRV, Hendrix and Metallica while leaning towards a more modern sound in the style of Tool, Stone Temple Pilots, etc.Based out of a country and culture that is still embracing the concept of rock ‘n roll and live music , BFL has worked passionately on honing their craft in terms of combining technical skill and quality songwriting and believe that their hard work is ready to be recognized on a global scale. Bacardi NH7 Weekender at Hard Rock Cafe Pune!
Bombay Bassment is a four-piece hip-hop/drum n bass band from Mumbai, formed in 2010. The lineup consists of their MC Bob, drummer Levin, bassist Ruell and DJ Chandu.
Pentagram Randolph, Shiraz, Papal and Vishal came together in 1994, with a strong need to play individual, original, unique music. This was as much a reaction to the stagnating Indian Rock scene, populated by bands playing mostly cover music, as it was a primal instinct. They did the rounds of college festivals, almost immediately becoming well known and popular, by winning three major rock competitions at the Kanpur, Delhi and Bombay IIT's. They signed a record deal and put out their first album ('We Are Not Listening') in 1996. It was listed by Rhythm House (India's premier record store) as the fastest selling rock album. They released two videos ("The Ignorant 1" and "Yoo") which were frequently played by all the music channels. Pentagram were MTV India's 'Artist of the Month' in 1997. They also won the Channel [V] awards for Best Live Band and Best Indian Band in 1997 & 1998. They were featured on Channel [V]'s Big Gig show, a showcase of an hour-long live performance.
