Kingfisher Band Nights Presents Parousia

Something of a shadow player in the South Indian hard music underground, we’ve done a little of everything in our five odd years together. We’ve muscled into the critical kudos, kicked prime live posterior, we’ve lost the plot, we’ve disappeared underground (in the underground, if you can beat that) and we’ve resurfaced… a couple of times. Once upon a time it was all a little apropos for a band that got its sobriquet from the greek word meaning ‘the second coming’. But that bolt of cleverness has run its course for the six-man collective that’s decided its time to come yet again. We’re now looking for a Sumerian word that means ‘third time lucky’.

However dodgy our personal antecedents, we’re fairly proud of our musical heritage. With members who’ve cut their teeth (and grown their hair) with some of the Indian scene’s finest semi pro and pro outfits (Molotov Cocktail, Angel Dust, Still Waters, TAAQ, Extinct Reflections, Galeej Gurus, Caesar’s Palace), our calluses are almost as hard as our heads. That, we’re convinced is as much an asset as any in a rock band.

Unwilling to be left out of the current fashion among bands to claim they don’t fit any particular genre or musical box, we want you to believe our music is hard to define. Since that’s easier said than done… we’re gonna start by saying it! Our loves span Asia to Zappa, and much in between. But when it comes to shove, we push the music we love most – hard guitar driven music, with melodic vocals and progressive overtones.
