Nokia Music Connects performing live at Hard Rock Mumbai on Tuesday, 31st August

Nokia Music Connects is a venture between Music Matters, Hong Kong and leading Indian media company Indiantelevision.com’s radioandmusic.com to create an annual gathering of the Indian Music Business professionals.

The conference will comprise of a series of high powered panels formed of key industry executives, who will dwell on and discuss pertinent issues facing the music industry in India. Speakers at the various panels include regulatory heads, music label honchos, advertising gurus, corporate heads as well as top notch creative professionals from the music industry, from both India and abroad.

The Modules that will make up the conference includes India in India; India to the World and World to India. Each module will be discussed over half day each, consisting of topics such as Monetizing piracy & effective anti-piracy models; Brand Regional music and other genres; Mobile/Digital business in India, Copyright law and the Role of media, among others.

Swarathma
Swarathma is a Bangalore based contemporary folk fusion band that represents the sound of today’s India: rooted in tradition, yet with sights set firmly on the world. The sound is Indian folk and classical blended with reggae, blues and jazz in a blend that is one of a kind.

Swarathma released 2 albums on EMI in 2009, and have worked with the legendary John Leckie (Radiohead, Muse). They were named Indie of the Year 2009 by Indiecison Magazine. They swept the Jack Daniel’s Rock awards for 2009, winning the popular category awards for the Best Band, Best Album and Best Song as well as the critics’ choice award for the Best Band.

The band is known for a visually electric stage act featuring faux-stage-horses, Bihari accents and Nehru topis at various times. This act has won over audiences in the UK, Singapore and Hong Kong apart from India.

The band wears their social consciences on their sleeve. Under the ‘Action Replay’ series, they play one free show for every paid show, giving back their music to those who may not be able to watch them easily. They have played for orphanages, street kids, leprosy centres and villages at various times.

With music that is strong and beautiful, contemporary and relevant, hard-hitting and tongue-in-cheek, they are a sought after live act.
